Welcome to the St Gregory the Great Catholic Academy Trust.
The Trust is formed of Catholic primary and secondary academies in the Leeds City area of the Diocese of Leeds. The Trust is under the patronage of St Gregory the Great, who was Pope of the Catholic Church between 590 and 604 AD and is the patron saint of teachers and students.
In coming together as a Trust, we keep in our minds the words of Gregory the Great ‘The proof of love is in the works. Where love exists, it works great things. But when it ceases to act, it ceases to exist.’
Our schools are distinctively Catholic, with Christ and the teaching of the Catholic Church and with its liturgical, sacramental and spiritual life at the centre of all we do.
We will work together to:
- provide the best possible opportunities for every child
- provide assistance to parents
- serve the Diocese, parishes and homes
- provide a service to society.
The Trust currently comprises the following schools in Leeds:
Christ the King Catholic Primary School
Holy Rosary and St Anne’s Catholic Primary School
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Primary School
Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School
St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School
St Paul’s Catholic Primary School
St Urban’s Catholic Primary School
Appointment of Catholic Senior Executive Leader
The Directors of St Gregory the Great Catholic Academy Trust are pleased to announce that they have appointed Peter Hughes to the position of Catholic Senior Executive Leader from 1 April 2021.
Peter joins the trust at an exciting stage of its development and we look forward to introducing him to all the academies as soon as possible.
For those who do not know Peter, he is an Executive Headteacher overseeing five schools in the Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust. Peter has been a leader in Catholic education for many years and is the executive headteacher at St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy in Horsforth and Holy Name Catholic Primary Academy in Cookridge. He has established a successful teaching school at St Mary’s and is accredited by the Department of Education as a National Leader of Education supporting schools across the Yorkshire region.
We look forward to welcoming Peter into the Trust.
